Artist Profile: Leonid Afremov, the artist, was born in the city of Vitebsk, in 1955. Amazingly enough Leonid was born in the same town as Marc Chagall, the famous artist who also founded the Vitebsk Art School along with Malevich & Kandinsky. Leonid Afremov graduated from Vitebsk Art School in 1978 and is one of the elite members.

All of Leonid's paintings are painted with only the use of a palette knife. This unusual and unique technique has been mastered over decades of work. When you see one of his paintings you immediately know that you are looking at an Afremov Original. Many people have tried to duplicate his style, but have not succeeded.

Leonid moved to Israel from Belarus to get away from the communist regime. After years of living in Israel where he was looked down upon for being a Russian Jew, Leonid moved to the United States and has finally found the artistic freedom he has been searching for his entire life.

Currently his art is being collected all over the world. There are many pleased collectors in the USA, Israel, Italy, France, England, Spain, Norway, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many other countries.
